                          Spiral Woven Gourd

Students will use a triple twine weave in two contrasting colors and create a gourd basket with a spiral going up the gourd.  The wood burned design will not be done in class but a pattern will be included and teacher will give instructions for completing the wood burning at home. 

           

Minimum:  4 Students         Maximum:  12 Students   Openings Remaining: 12

Skill Level:           All Skill Levels are welcome.

Students Bring:   Apron, Bucket or Tub for water, spray bottle, scissors, awl or small flat screwdriver.

                  Gourd Ornament Workshop:                                        Exploring Decorative Techniques

​Discover the art of transforming natural gourds into beautiful, one-of-a-kind ornaments!  In this hands-on class, students will learn four different techniques for creating gourd ornaments they will treasure for years to come.  

​Discover the art of transforming natural gourds into beautiful, one-of-a-kind ornaments!  In this hands-on class, students will learn 4 different techniques for creating gourd ornaments they will treasure for years to come .  


Each student will be using their gourds and transforming them into 12 different  "bright and shiny" ornaments using a variety of decorative methods.  Techniques may include painting, staining, decoupage, yarn, and glitter along with guidance on gourd preparation, and finishing.

Use a water balloon and acrylic paint to leave colorful kisses on a gourd.  Add a zipper, trim and embellishment to finish a vase.

Dogwood Gourd

Spring is in the air as we paint dogwood blossoms on a martin gourd.  Students will trace the design onto a prepared gourd.  Acrylic paints will be provided.  There are limited brushes available, but if you have favorite brushes please bring them.  This simple painting is ideal for beginners.

                         Sunflower Fun

​Students will use leather dyes & wax on the cleaned and prepared gourd.  The sunflower will be made from cut-out pieces of leather which are shaped and hardened then are attached to the gourd when dry.  The gourd is then finished with a seagrass rim.
